PRINCESS EUGENIE and Princess Beatrice may have been targets of phone hacking -
according to reports. The daughters of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson are the latest public figures to have been named in the investigation into practices at the News of the World and the Sun.
Suspicions centre on an incident of attempted mugging which happened while ADVERTISEMENT the princesses were travelling in Cambodia two years ago, and which quickly found its way into
the Sun and other News International publications.
Yesterday, it was reported Prince Andrew had expressed exasperation at the privacy of his family being breached - but
has no intention of pursuing the allegations.
The prince and his ex-wife have been under intense media scrutiny in recent months because of overseas connections made in his
capacity as a government trade envoy.
Any suggestion that the Royal Family may be drawn into the phone-tapping scandal will create further
problems for News International as it tries to draw a line under the use of phone hacking at its publications.
The phone hacking allegations emerged after News of the World reporter Clive Goodman was found to have obtained tape recordings of aides to princes William and Harry from private investigator
Glenn Mulcaire. At the time, News International claimed this was an isolated incident involving a rogue reporter
