UN SUMMIT CONCLUDES WITH ADOPTION OF GLOBAL ACTION PLAN TO ACHIEVE DEVELOPMENT GOALS BY 2015
UNITED NATIONS, New York, 22 September — A United Nations Summit on the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) concluded today with the adoption of a global action plan to achieve the eight anti-poverty goals by their 2015 target date and the announcement of major new commitments for women’s and children’s health and other initiatives against poverty, hunger and disease.

2010 STAND UP, TAKE ACTION AND MAKE NOISE EVENTS ACROSS CAMBODIA ‘MAKE NOISE’ FOR ACCELERATED CMDG ACHIEVEMENT BY 2015
Phnom Penh, 17 September 2010: Cambodians joined people around the world in expressing their solidarity for ending extreme poverty and its root causes by 2015 by taking part in “Stand Up, Take Action and Make Noise for the MDGs” events. Today’s events in Cambodia are part of global anti-poverty events taking place from 17-19 September, leading up to the United Nations Summit on the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) to be held from 20-22 September in New York. Heads of state will gather and discuss progress and challenges in achieving the MDGs by 2015.

HIV AND AIDS IN CAMBODIA THE EPIDEMIC AND THE NATIONAL RESPONSE
Background The first HIV case in Cambodia was detected in 1991, followed with the first AIDS case in 1994. The Royal Government of Cambodia responded rapidly and established relevant institutions and planning frameworks at the Ministry of Health. In 1998, the National AIDS Authority (NAA) was created, mandated with coordinating the multi-sectoral response to HIV and AIDS in Cambodia.
